The starting point is to realise that what you need to eat will vary from person to person.
For example there is a major difference in how much you need to eat (and what) if you have a physically demanding job or if you work in an office.
Similarly items like how long you have been at your current weight, your metabolism, any sport, male or female, age, etc. all affect your plan.
To select the ideal weight gain meal plan focus on 3 key elements:.

Even before thinking about extra calories or selecting what to eat & drink (or using products) focus on absorption.
Because one of the key “basics” to putting on weight is making certain your body is absorbing the maximum amount of nutrients from all the food you are eating.
Otherwise everything goes in one end and…. (you get the message)

A condition called negative nutrition affects your ability to absorb nutrients from food.
If you are not absorbing to the max then you won’t be getting the maximum benefit from the food you eat.
Otherwise you can eat and eat but if your body isn’t absorbing nutrients you simply won’t gain weight.

Absorption can be affected by many factors:

If you want to gain weight start by making certain every item of food you eat or drink will help you gain weight. Otherwise you can easily spend a fortune on weight gain drinks and not have any benefit.
As a very rough ‘rule of thumb’ the healthier you are the better your absorption rates. (plenty of fresh fruit & veg, water, etc.)
Improving your absorption rates can be the fastest way to gain weight

The next stage is that to gain weight you will need to take in more calories.
OK, boosting absorption (as above) will help but it is very important that you are eating the right foods.

Don’t be mislead….
There is lots of misleading advice about what you need to eat to gain weight.
Don’t worry about items like eating fatty, sugary, high protein foods, etc,
Because it can be really easy to gain weight if you follow some simple steps in selecting what to eat.
In selecting what to eat focus on 3 key items :
Especially the last element is very important.
The amount of calories you need to eat depends on what you do during the day. If you have a physically demanding job you need to eat a lot more calories then if you work in an office.
That is why the best weight gain plans (like the ones lower down this page) will provide you with the right weight gain diet – based on your own individual needs.
These plans show you not only how much to eat, but provide you with meal plans and ideas of the right foods for you.

Using items 1 and 2 you will gain weight all over.
However when you start gaining weight your natural body shape will influence the plan you need to follow.
In most cases people will ‘fill out’ a bit all-over initially but at some stage the extra weight will go where it comes most natural. (and there is a real danger you end up with a ‘fat tum and skinny legs’)
The only way to prevent this is by doing the right exercise – you don’t need to spend hours and hours in the gym.
Also don’t worry about losing weight when playing sport, doing exercise or the gym – if you eat the right foods (or products) at the right time you will gain weight and get a great shape.
