What to eat to Gain Weight…

Introduction.

The best weight gain diet plan is one which has been designed around your own individual weight gain needs.

There is no such thing as the ‘ideal weight gain diet’ – a simple menu plan you need to follow to gain weight.

Yes, you might see on some sites (or magazines) the advice to eat 4000, 5000 calories or more to gain weight. Similarly you will often get the advice to eat fatty, carbohydrate, protein, sugary, etc. foods – delete as applicable ;)

They simply won’t work….

The reason is that everyone is individual and the right plan will be designed to work for you, for example… do you eat lots / skip meals, lost weight or always been underweight, play sport, etc….

Start with a Plan…..

The first stage, in your weight gain diet, is to identify your own unique weight gain ‘hurdles’

- for example

      • how much you need to eat & when
      • your absorption rates
      • if you play sport / your natural body shape
      • how long you have been at your weight
      • how much you want to gain, and when,
      • etc.

The easiest way to get your plan is to

Because you will then have all the ‘basic’ information you need to develop your weight gain diet plan – you will know exactly what you need to do to gain weight.

Once you know your weight gain hurdles then you will be able to use the information on this site to identify your idetal weight gain diet.

For example you will know….

  • How much you need to eat (which meals to focus on),
  • How to improve your absorption rates
  • and how to work on your shape.

Based on this you will have a weight gain diet designed to work for you – and aimed at helping you achieve the fastest possible results.

How to start

Once you have your plan then you can select one of the 3 ways to gain weight

The key is to select a method you will enjoy.

The single most important element to gaining weight is consistency – don’t be one of those people who start a plan on Monday and only last till the end of the week.

For best results you should be following a plan for 2 to 3 months – that way the weight will stay on when you stop your plan.

The 3 plans are :

    1. Cheap (eating the right food at the right time)
    2. Easy (Adding Weight Gain Products)
    3. Fun (Getting Shape and Muscles)

Taking each one in turn :

1. Cheap (Eating the right food)

By far the cheapest way is to make sure you select the right foods. By making certain you are eating the right items, at the right time, it is possible to put on weight without buying any weight gain products.

Yes it does require a little time – for example to work out your calorie needs per meal but it can be very effective.

In addition – by selecting healthy meal plans you will also help your health (and as a side effect feel great as a result)

    1. Start with “What to Eat” ? and decide what to eat for all your meals. (i.e. eat the right amount of calories and type of food / consider adding weight gain products)
    2. Check the information in the absorption section – i.e. are there any items you need to change / focus on.
    3. Find out your shape i.e. upper, lower, etc and see if you will need to do some exercise to help gain weight in the right places.

2. Easy Adding Weight Gain Products

If you can’t be bothered with having to work out meal plans, etc do consider adding weight gain products.

However what you select will make all the difference. We have lost count of the number of people we have spoken with who have half empty tubs of powder in their cupboard at home, because they didn’t work, tasted horrible or felt them feeling sick!

The advantage of selecting the right product is that they have been especially developed and will be a very easy way to gain weight.

Quick Action Plan

1. Select the right extra calories.

Whatever product you select you need to get extra calories.

But do note you will get much better results if you go for ‘reasonable’ extra calories – avoid the ‘over the top’ high calorie drinks sold in some shops. Might sound good but they will also raise your metabolic rate.

For best results focus on complete drinks – containing all essential nutrients (carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, etc)
Avoid Protein Based Drinks (unless you go to the gym or do sport, as per below).

The reason is that protein helps your muscles work better – raising your metabolic rate which burn calories faster.

2. Consider absorption boosters

If your absorption is not great add a product to boost absorption rates.

3. Protein Drinks ?

Find out your shape i.e. upper, lower, etc and see if you will need to do some exercise to help gain weight in the right places.

We usually don’t recommend boosting protein intake – but if you train in the gym or do sport you will need to use protein at exactly the right time. But start by having a look at the shape section first.

3. Fun (Getting Shape and Muscles)

A very effective way of putting on weight is training in the Gym. Sorry any other sport just won’t get you results as quickly.

But, if you want to gain weight – and get a great shape or muscles – they you need to follow a sport nutrition plan, as well as either of the 2 earlier options. (otherwise you just won’t fill out – you might have great muscles but still look skinny)

  • To gain weight you need to take in calories – as well as following the right sport nutrition plan AND the right training plan in the gym.
  • Sport Nutrition. You need to eat and drink the right products around your training regime.
  • The right training Plan. The training plan you follow will make all the difference.

4. Fastest Results
